YAWM SHI'B JABALAH · LATE PRE-ISLAMIC ERA

Some ground remembers what was fought for it.

Nearly 1,400 years ago, two forces met at a narrow mountain pass — one of the last great battles before Islam. We make gear for the ones still climbing toward it.

01 — TWO SIDES

They met at a narrow pass.

Two forces converged on a tight mountain shi'b. The ground would decide as much as the fighters.

02 — THE THIRST

They starved their camels of water.

Then loosed the herd into the enemy line. Thirst broke the ranks before a blade was drawn.

03 — THE ROUT

A famed commander fell that day.

The line broke, and one of the era's best-known leaders died in the chaos.

04 — THE NAME

We didn't choose this mountain. It chose the name.

The year isn't settled. The ground is — and it still carries the name.
